Artists in nature alter the climate! This is one of the first sentences that I read in the project description document for Kielzog. I would counter the fight against water in a creative manner. But I don’t want to fight, I want to play! I want to play with the green moss-clad models of a delta in the ‘Waterloopbos’.

I want to build rafts with the spinning mechanisms and make patterns in the water. I want to act, not look – climate change forces us to reconceptualise our view of nature, but to make these changes we need to play with water.

The Waterwriter, a mechanism that allows you to write on water, was invented for the Hydro Lab. By using ropes, a set of arms can move in the water, just like a water bug would. The mechanism is built out of gauze and aluminium, in order to be as light as possible.
