The Springendal is one of the most famous nature areas in North-East Twente, and since 1969 owned by the Forestry Commission. The State Forest has a landscape vision 'Springendal 2011' and wants to translate this vision in a design. For three young land cultivation fields which lay spread around the area, Makan is asked to collaborate with Fons Eysink from the Union of forest groups to design a master plan. Important is to inspire stakeholders from the region to take part in the design process, for this matter a computer model is developed in which spatial interventions made visible in the area.

The second young land cultivation field is now a rectangular field without a visual connection with the Paardenslenk (Graben) and the half open landscape around it. By opening up the rectangle shape, corridors are realized which creates a much more varied landscape, where there is enough space for small-scale fields.

Of the many young Heath cultivation fields, this field is one of the most iconic. The rectangular pattern fits within the tight avenue structures along the Mosbeek road to the West and to the North of this cultivation enclave. The Wildspieker meadow is the only heath cultivation fields in English landscape style, and offers a great contrast with the rectilinear patterns of the avenues and the other young cultivation fields. This English landscape style fits just good in the organic forms of the much older fields.
